"Monasteries of Moldova" Series


In compliance with Law no. 548 -XIII dated July 21, 1995 on the National Bank of Moldova, the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the National Bank of Moldova "On the minting of jubilee and commemorative coins" no. 59 dated January 24, 2000 and according to the Decision of the Council of Administration of the National Bank of Moldova no. 387 of December 14, 2000, the National Bank of Moldova issued, starting with December 25, 2000, twenty commemorative coins of "Monasteries of Moldova" series as a legal tender and for numismatic purposes.

A circular border stands out on the edge of both the obverse and the reverse.
Turning the coins against the vertical axis at an angle of 180 degrees sets the image on the obverse and the reverse of the coins.

Descrierea monedei:

The obverse is common for all the coins and includes the following: 

  • The Coat of Arms is placed in the central part;
  • The figure "2000" is placed in the upper part;
  • The wording "50 LEI" in the bottom part;
  • The wording "REPUBLICA MOLDOVA" is engraved in the upper part of the obverse following the coin circumference.

The reverse of the coins:

Vîărzăreşti Monastery:

  • The image of the monastery and parts of landscape stand out in the central part;
  • The inscription "MĂNĂSTIREA VĂRZĂREŞTI" is engraved in the upper part of the reverse following the coin circumference.

Căpriana Monastery :

  • The image of the monastery and parts of landscape stand out in the central part;
  • The inscription "MĂNĂSTIREA CĂPRIANA" is engraved in the upper part of the reverse following the coin circumference.

Hîrbovăţ Monastery:

  • The image of the monastery and parts of landscape stand out in the central part;
  • The inscription "MĂNĂSTIREA HÎRBOVĂŢ" is engraved in the upper part of the reverse following the coin circumference.

Hîrjauca Monastery:

  • The image of the monastery and parts of landscape stand out in the central part;
  • The inscription "MĂNĂSTIREA HÎRJAUCA" is engraved in the upper part of the reverse following the coin circumference.

Ţigăneşti Monastery:

  • The image of the monastery and parts of landscape stand out in the central part;
  • The inscription "MĂNĂSTIREA ŢIGĂNEŞTI" is engraved in the upper part of the reverse following the coin circumference.

Japca Monastery:

  • The image of the monastery and parts of landscape stand out in the central part;
  • The inscription "MĂNĂSTIREA ŢIGĂNEŞTI" is engraved in the upper part of the reverse following the coin circumference. 

Rudi Monastery:

  • The image of the monastery and parts of landscape stand out in the central part;
  • inscripţia "MĂNĂSTIREA RUDI" este gravată în partea de sus a reversului, urmînd circumferinţa monedei.

Curchi Monastery:

 Tabăra Monastery:

 Saharna Monstery:
