European Female Chess Championship


In compliance with Law no. 548 –XIII dated July 21, 1995 on the National Bank of Moldova, the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and of the National Bank of Moldova “On the minting and issuing of jubilee and commemorative coins” no.262 dated March 9, 2005 and according to the Decision of the Council of Administration of the National Bank of Moldova no. 166 dated May 30, 2005, the National Bank of Moldova issued, on June 6, 2005, the commemorative coin “European Female Chess Championship”, as legal tender and for numismatic purpose.


A circular border stands out on the edge of both the obverse and the reverse.
Turning the coin against the vertical axis at an angle of 180 degrees sets the image on the obverse and the reverse of the coin.

Description:

Obverse:

  • The Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova is placed in the central part;
  • The year of issuance “2005” is engraved in the upper part;
  • The wording “10 LEI” is placed in the bottom part;
  • The inscription “REPUBLICA MOLDOVA” in block letters follows the coin circumference .

Reverse:

  • The outline of the map of the Republic of Moldova and the inscription “CHISINAU 2005” are engraved in the central part;
  • Two chess figures are represented on a chess board on the left side;
  • The inscription “EUROPEAN FEMALE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP” in block letters is engraved following the coin circumference.
